The Effects of Focused Academic Vocabulary Instruction on Underperforming Math Students
During the 2005–06 academic year, teachers implemented Marzano’s six-step vocabulary program in the lowest-performing sixth-grade math class at a Tennessee school. Students’ gains on statewide assessments were then compared to gains made by students in the previous year’s class who did not receive focused instruction on vocabulary. This report summarizes the methods and findings of the effectiveness of the six-step process in improving the confidence and test scores of the math students.Additional Information
