The Critical Concepts – Alignment Between NWEA's Map Learning Continuum and The Critical Concepts

This report details the process used to align the Critical Concepts in the areas of mathematics, science, and English language arts to the Learning Continuum accompanying the Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) suite of assessments. It also summarizes the results of a post-hoc analysis that indicates the degree of correspondence between the complexity of content in the Learning Continuum and that of the aligned content in the Critical Concepts.

The alignment resulting from this process allows educators to translate MAP test results to specific instructional starting points within the Critical Concepts. Instructions for using the alignment are included in the appendix of the report.
